A Boy and His Dog

Our new routine in the morning before school now includes walking Logan, Ethan and now our dog Max to school...the entire length of a street! All of this prep for such a short distance, but Logan just loves his Max and I think it helps to start his day off well with a special send off. Just picture us standing on the corner across from the school, me with my hair on top of my head teeth barely brushed, Ethan still in his syrup-soaked pajamas from breakfast holding onto the car choice of the morning in the stoller and our poor old max panting heavily from walking "so far" to the end of the street, all of us blowing kisses back and forth while Logan walks backwards into the school! I just have to laugh, but this is just a typical day in our lives!

Summer Birthdays...

At the beginning of this month, we celebrated the birthdays of my dear friends Jann and Kim. What a fun and relaxing afternoon we had having lunch and then catching up on our lives, friendships and our craft projects. These are rare times for "The Girls" these days now that we all have more commitments, family and jobs that fill our everyday. It was so much more simpler back in the day, but I treasure every moment I do get to have with these very special women. We have been through many smiles and tears over the years and they each hold a very special place in my heart! Thank you girls, for giving me your time, your love, your fun and laughter, and most of all...your friendship!!! Happy Birthday Jann and Kim, can't wait for the next celebration!

Our Little Fisherman!

Logan's latest love has become fishing. We acquired a few fishing poles from my grandfather after he passed away in February along with his tackle box. Logan was immediately fascinated with all that goes along with fishing; the poles, the net, all the different kinds of bait and hooks, how to catch a fish etc. Eddie and Logan go fishing at least once a week now (Logan would like to go every day, but of course there are other things in life). And they usually wait until after dinner when it's cooler and the fish are biting better! As you can see, our little man has become quite the fisherman and can recite the names of fish I have never even heard of before! He wants to know when I am going to take him fishing...I really haven't given him an answer, maybe he will forget he wants me to go. Maybe when we attempt a camping trip, someday!

Fun Timeswith Friends!

One of our favorite things to do as a family is go for a hike. It's even better when you have friends that love to do the same thing! Here are some pics from a hike we took with our friends, Jeff, Julie, Bryce and Allie Ferin. The kids just love to hang our especially when they can explore and run around. We hope to get in some more hiking this fall and it will be fun to see Ethan hiking and walking along the trails too!

Running...

Here is an "oldie but goody" picture of our littlist aspiring runner in the family, Mr. Ethan Michael! This was taken at then end of last running season (February, 2009). He loved to put mommy's running shoes on and walk around like a big boy! As most of you know, I have continued running through the past spring and now have started training again for another half-marathon. This fall, I will be going to run the Nike Women's Half-Marathon in San Francisco. Come October, myself along with about 15+ other awesome women will be having a girls weekend combined with just a BIT of excercise. Our team name is AZ Babes and you might just "Feel our Heat" from the bay area as we tackle this latest adventure! It has already been an interesting and fun 2nd running season for me, and I am constantly learning new things, such as what this AZ heat does to you as you try to run the same mileage from a few months back...its alot more slow going! But the fall and cool weather is coming and it can't get here fast enough!

Running has also hit the rest of the Jaffie Crew. Logan was in a running club at school last year. It was fun to see him learning the difference between running all out like a normal 5 year old and trying to pace your self to finish a race. He still has lots to learn, but he had fun, especially when mommy would come to school and run with him. Eddie has also recently purchased a pair of running shoes. This is BIG, because if you know Eddie, he does not run! He started running a little at the end of spring but as the temp has gone up, he has stopped. Once things cool off again, I think you might just see us in a local 5K. I will keep you updated as our running progress continues, I plan to run a few other races after San Francisco as well.

AZ Science Center!

The week before school started, the boys and I took a trip to the AZ Science Center. It was lots of fun to watch them explore and learn new things. The center had an exhibit featuring LEGOS, so of course we were on this level most of the time! They got to build with all sizes of legos, play in castles, and just be kids. Logan's favorite exhibit was the weather station and interactive movie with real rain, wind and heat. I think Ethan just liked that he got to be "big" and be out of the stoller roaming around and exploring! Here are a few highlights from our day. Can't wait to go back again soon!

Happy Saturday!

I haven't gotten back to playing around with my digital scrapping or blogging this week, have been working alot of odd days and odd hours. So I thought I would post just a little note. I HAVE managed to get myself to the gym for some awesome classes this week, thanks to the encouragement of a few of you! Eddie even joined my friend Julie and I for a Body Pump class! It was quite fun to have him work out next to me, see the smile and laughter on his face as we lifted a bar full of weights (remember, Eddie has been a weight and gym buff since we ever met), and I think he thought the class was a piece of cake. Well I am here to tell you that by that night, he was icing his thighs from all the squats we had done! I guess the class wasn't so easy for him huh? By the way, Julie nor I, required icing of our legs. The class was thursday night, and he is still a little stiff when getting off the couch! But kudos to him for trying out the class, I only wish I had my camera! I also took a Body Combat class which was quite fun. I am not as coordinated at it and I am sure I did not make any kick boxer or Kung Fu master very proud, but I still enjoyed it! I am having difficulty lifting my arms this weekend...we are quite the pair around this house!
